Plateau state Government on Monday signed a N1.35 billion memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the upgrade of the Plateau Geographical Information System with a private firm Teqbridge Ltd. The commissioner for Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Mr Yilji Gomwalk signed on behalf of Plateau state Government while Chiemeka Ngwu the Managing director of Teqbridge signed for the company.
Gomwalk while speaking at the occasion described the event as significant for the effective running of the ministry and management of lands in the state. He said "Today is very significant to us as a state government and the lands ministry, seeing the signing of this MoU of N1.35 billion contract coming to pass after approval by Gov. Jonah Jang. This is the beginning of good things to come in our effort to have very smooth management of landed properties in the state. We are optimistic that by the time the project is completed, the issuance of certificates of occupancy (C-of-O) and rights of occupancy (R-of-O) will be done without any problem''.
The commissioner added that other ministries would key into the project for data storage and collection. He also called on the company to ensure effective execution of the projection and adherence to the agreement while keeping to deadlines.
Ngwu while responding thanked the state Government and ministry for the opportunity given to carry out the project. He said "What I can promise is that Tedbridge , in conjunction with our partner, Thomson Reuters, will deliver not just on time but a high quality international standard upgrade. "We are not going to give you your C-of-O in months, but this is going to come in days by the time we are through with our job. If there is any emergency C-of-O that needed to come up and there is no problem of survey and property issues, other than creating the certificate, it can be gotten within hours".
The managing director added that with the signing the MoU, the state Government has laid a solid base for social and economic transformation through massive land distribution.
